Hi everyone. I would like to thank all of u for all the advice I got from this forum during my preparation for the step1 test. The reason I post my studying experience is that I believe it will help all the others who are in a similar situation like me. I started studying about 15 months ago but I did nopt study for more than one hour daily bcz I am working as a research fellow at Harvard Medical School and I had to work loooong hours beside I was newly married. I had only one weekend day to study. My wife is not working so I had to work. I had to choose between giving up the idea that I can take the exam or to be realistic and aim for less. I was very nervous reading your posts talking about all these great books I have to study. Basically I couldn’t do it bcz I did not have time. I had Kaplan Books, I had few BRS books, but I did not have time to open it. I decided to go only with FA. I read it 2-3 times. 4 months before my exam, I registered for three months online Kaplan Qbank. I was shocked when I saw my score. It was 42-56 %. I stopped doing any more questions then I went through everything in FA once more for three weeks then I did more questions on Qbank. Then I went back to read FA and Again to the Qbank. Every time I found some improvement in my performance. By the end of my three months of my Qbank, my score was 62-68%. I did not know if I am ready or not so I did the USMLE cd questions and scores 37-40-38. and 61 in Kaplan CD. I did NMAE and I scored 480. At this time I felt that I am ready then I went through FA AGAIN and did NMBE (the second one) and I scored 510. At the day of the exam I thought I did well and I have a feeling that I can pass but after that I started thinking about stupid mistakes I did and easy questions I missed and I thought I will not pass. I was really surprised by my score. I did not expect that score(92/226). I am very grateful to ALLAH (GOD) for his help. What I want to say is when anyone listens to advice he should choose what fits his situation and there is always a right way to reach your goal. The first step to success is to know your goal and find the right way to reach it. I am willing to answer any questions. Good Luck for all of u.
