Because I am now confusing with my performance. Really ! Some have said that this happening is natural. But I dont know by myself. Well.., here is my short story of exam experience. Old grad. Finished step 2 in last July. Prepared step 1 for 8 months. Read Kaplan notes (2002) PLUS Goljan patho. Other additional books are those everyone used HY and BRS, Lippincotts, etc. Not reading cover to cover of those books except Kaplan notes & Goljan RR patho. Just to review selected parts of those HY, Lippincott and BRS only. Kaplan course are not available in my country (Taiwan). But used on-line webprep. No study partners except here discussions in this forum since my step 2. Read Kaplan notes about 2-3 times (some subjects 2 times, some subjects 3 times) Then, did Kaplan Q bank(on-line) for one month. Performed pre-exam assessment tests, after finishing of Q bank. Here're my scores. Kaplan Q book 78.8% (2 months prior) Kaplan Q bank 81% (3 weeks prior) USMLE CD 81% (14 days prior) Kaplan simulated test CD 79% (14 days prior.. Yes, done on the same day, with USMLE CD) NBME form 1 => 12 days prior NBME form 2 => 5 days prior Both forms => above 600 (here, I dont want to mention exactly becos I really do not know my real scores as there are many seen Qs and pre-occupied ideas posted here and other USMLE forum) Exam => March 30, Taipei time Exam => full of photographs/Histo slides/ patho slides (at least 5-6 per block), hand writing drawings (3-5 per block), X rays and CT/MRI (about 3-4 per block), EKG (total 2 in entire exam), EEG (1.. but history given is workable to answer that Q), Pharm tracing of drugs (about 3-4), other bar graphs for pharm and statistics (about 3-4), a numbers of increase/decrease arrows for endocrine and other physio/ pathophysio Qs Experimental Mice Qs => 2-3 Subject distributions => fair But some of thosoe Qs are very weird. Time is a matter after watching of those photos, graphs, hand drawings, X rays with a numbers of arrows. I did not have the time managment problems in doing Q banks, pre-exam tests, including NBMEs. Some Qs are short, and can be answered readily within a few seconds. Some can be answered by reading carefully within given time (1 min 12 sec for each). Some are weird, not enough with given time (1min 12 sec). This is a short briefing of my exam experience and *this does not mean that every one will get similar patterns.* But I feel that there are a lot of those graphs, tracings, increase/decreas arrows, photos, slides, etc in my step 1 (more than those of my step 2 exam). After exam => confused Just praying by myself for getting a good score. Apart from that.. I can not do anymore. Good Luck to all of you! sjs
